Dr. Kasilingam Rajkumar, Director
Dr. Kasilingam Rajkumar, was appointed as the Director of IRMRA w.e.f. 12th March 2015 based on the recommendation given by Govt. of India and currently, he is the overall in-charge of IRMRA. Dr. Rajkumar has completed his Masters in Chemical Sciences from Pondicherry University [1996], M.Tech. in Rubber Technology [1997] from Rubber Technology Centre, I. I.T. Kharagpur and doctoral degree [PhD in Polymer Nanocomposites] from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Dr. Rajkumar also secured an MBA in Operation Management from Sikkim Manipal University [2013]. Dr. Rajkumar has over all experience of over 18 years experience in the Rubber Industry and he spent most of his career at IRMRA only. He joined IRMRA in the month of March 1999 as Sr. Scientific officer and has been serving IRMRA at different capacity since then and taken very active role in development of IRMRA to its today's position from what it was during 1999.
Dr. Rajkumar started his research career in the field of bio-inorganic chemistry as a part of M.Sc program and the title of dissertation was “synthesis, spectral and magnetic properties of symmetrical macrocyclic bi-nucleating ligands and their copper (II) complexes”. The bi-product out of his research work was a polymer based resin.
Dr. Rajkumar has worked in the area of Conveyor belt Technology at a leading conveyor belt manufacturer namely “Fenner (India) Ltd.” at Madurai as a part of his M. Tech program and the topic of his thesis was "Development of Resorcinol Formaldehyde Latex (RFL) based bonding system for promoting adhesion between Nylon / Cotton based cross woven fabrics and NR based cover compound".
Dr. Rajkumar’s PhD thesis was on development of polymer nanocomposites for high temperature application and the title of thesis was “THERMAL RESISTANT POLYMERIC NANOCOMPOSITES SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION”.
Dr. Rajkumar carried out a thesis work on “Study on Operational Issues in Automotive Rubber Industry” as part of MBA project. Project emphasised mainly on global concern on environmental aspects with respect to Rubber Industry.
As a part of his R&D career, Dr. Rajkumar developed several critical products for nuclear and defence sectors. More particularly, development of rubber gauntlet as a part of indigenization, was well appreciated by the senior official of BARC and Dr. Rajkumar was given cash award for this outstanding contribution. Dr. Rajkumar was instrumental in obtaining two important world bank funded NAIP projects namely Rubber Dam Project and Coconut Coir value chain Project. Dr. Rajkumar also secured an award from ICAR, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India for his outstanding contribution in completion of project of “Design and development of Rubber Dam for water sheds”. Development of shock vibration isolation mounts, estimation of life of SV mounts, development of hydraulic mounts, development of alternate materials including bio source based materials etc are some of his major area of interest. He has undertaken several assignments like specification development, product development, reverse engineering and consultancy work.
Dr. Rajkumar, is also involved in the installation and functioning of Radiation Lab at IRMRA. He has completed course conducted by BARC, Mumbai, in “Safety aspects in Ionising Radiations in R&D applications” and he is Approved “Radiation Safety officer” of IRMRA to implement and maintain the safety norms of Radiation Lab at IRMRA.
Dr. Rajkumar is Certified Lead Auditor for ISO-9001 quality management system and he has successfully completed the NABL assessor course conducted by NABL and he is panel member of NABL Auditors in mechanical and chemical field. He also qualified internal Auditor for ISO 17025 and ISO/TS: 16949 -2002. He is trainer for Internal Auditor course and Measurement Uncertainty as per NABL requirement.
Dr. Rajkumar has presented several many technical papers in national and international conferences. He was invited at several national and international forum as invited speakers and panellists. He has delivered several lectures on various topics in various training programmes conducted by IRMRA. Dr. Rajkumar published several technical papers in the reputed national and international journals. Dr. Rajkumar also guided several UG and PG students for their academic thesis projects.
Dr. Rajkumar was responsible for securing the several recognitions such as BIS recognition, DGMS, CEMILAC,ISO-9001, NABL Accreditation of IRMRA and was heading the QMS section up to April 2012.
Dr. Rajkumar is an Associate Member of Institute of Engineers (India), Calcutta in Chemical engineering discipline. He is life member of Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS), Mumbai and ASCI, Hyderabad. He is a technical member of ISO - TC45 and PCD 13 of BIS. He represented India, on behalf of BIS in Asia Pacific standardization seminar organized by Japan Rubber Mfrs. Association held in Tokyo, Japan in the year 2006 & 2007.
Mr. Niteesh Kumar Sukhla, Assistant Director
Mr. Niteesh Kumar Shukla, Assistant Director of IRMRA and is looking after Tyre Testing, QMS and Training Dept. He has completed M.Sc in Chemistry from Delhi University and M.Tech in Rubber Technology from IIT Kharagpur. He has carried out his M.Tech project at IRMRA and soon after M.Tech he has joined IRMRA as Trainee Officer. At present he is actively involved in many projects including international projects. He is Co-PI of Coconut pith project sponsored by NAIP. He has undergone training on ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 management system.
He is Certified Lead Auditor for ISO-9001 quality management system. He has a key role in the project for Crating Air craft tyre testing facilities at IRMRA and defect investigation of Aircraft tyres.
He has undertaken several assignments like specification finalization for aircraft and other tyre testing machines.
Tyre Uniformity, Shearography, SEM and XRD equipments have been installed and commissioned under his supervision.
Tyre testing Dept. has achieved a phenomenal growth in revenue generation under his leadership.
Dr. Jayaramudu Jarugala, Assistant Director - Head Testing
Dr. Jayaramudu Jarugala is currently working as an Assistant Director in Indian Rubber Manufacturers Research Association (IRMRA), Thane, Mumbai, India. He received his degrees B.Sc. (Chemistry) in 2002, M.Sc. in 2006, and Ph.D. (Polymer Science & Tech.,) in 2010, from Sri. Krishnadevaraya University, India. Then he moved over to Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa to carry out Postdoctoral research work at Prof. E.R. Sadiku research group for a period of 3 years (2011-2014). Meanwhile he also worked as Senior Scientist with polymer nano-composite research Group at National Centre for Nano structured Materials, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), South Africa (2014-2015). His honours and awards the Cited in Marquis Who’s Who in the World 2014, The National Research Foundation (NRF) and Department of Science and Technology (DST) Post-doctoral Fellowship Awards for 2014, South Africa, Cited in Marquis Who’s Who in the World 2012, and Junior Research Fellow in 2007-2010 from University grant commission (UGC), Govt. of India. Currently, he is also a reviewer of the International Journal of Biological Macromolecules - Elsevier Publishers, Carbohydrate Polymers - Elsevier Publishers, Journal of Korean Chemical Society - Korean Chemical Society, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research: Part A - John Wiley Publishers etc. He has published 34 articles in high-impact international journals, 6 book chapters and 1 patent. His research works feature in Journal Cover Pages (this is rare honour for any scientist). His research focus is in Polymer Composites, Thermoplastic Elastomer Nano-Composites, Nano-cellulose, Polymer Nano- and Bio- Composites for automobile, aerospace, packaging applications.
Mr. T. V. Sethumadhavan, Assistant Director
Mr. T. V. Sethumadhavan has joined IRMRA as Assistant Director w.e.f. 3rd December 2015 and currently he is in-charge of product development department of IRMRA. He has completed his Masters in Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University and M.Tech. in Polymer Technology from Cochin University of Science and Technology. He has a Diploma in “Electrical Insulation Technology” conducted by Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturer’s Association (IEEMA) and over all industrial R&D experience of over 22 years in the rubber and other polymers.
He has undergone training at Rubber Research Institute of India, Kottayam in property evaluation and manufacturing of dry rubber and latex products and done his project work titled "Effect of processing aids on highly filled SBR and NR/BR blend compounds" at JK Tyres as part of his M.Tech. program.
Mr. T. V. Sethumadhavan started his career as a chemist in the spices extraction unit of Bombay oil industries and moved on to work as a supervisor in the technical department of Apollo tyres. After completing his M.Tech., he joined as Assistant Manager at Span Rubber Products, Palghar and then at Rubber Products Ltd., Thane. During this tenure of 5 years, he has acquired versatile experience in product development, quality assurance and Manufacture of Rubber Sheets, Mats, Gaskets, Extruded Tubes & Profiles, Hoses, Bellows, Coated Fabrics & its Fabrication, Moulded Articles.
Dr. Bharat P. Kapgate, Senior Scientific Officer / Section Head, Training Dept.
Dr. Bharat P. Kapgate, have joined IRMRA as Senior Scientific Officer on 19th October 2015, looking after Training and QMS department and also involved in R&D activities. Dr. Bharat has completed his post graduation, M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University in 2008. He worked as a Lecturer in Polytechnic College, Nagpur for one year (during 2009-10). In July 2010, he joined as Full time Research Scholar at Department of Chemistry, Visvesvarya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur. His Ph.D. thesis involves the reinforcement effect of in situ generated nano silica by sol-gel process into rubber and rubber blend matrices. He has published 7 International Journal Publication and 1 Book Chapter and has presented his research work in several National and International Conferences. His research area includes reinforcement of rubber matrix with nano filler, non-black type in particular with emphasis on the modification rubber-filler interface (rubber modification / filler surface modification). Investigating the structure-property correlation of the composite materials for understanding the behavior and properties of the rubber-filler interface which is key factor for the most property enhancement. He also worked on the preparation and utilization of Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) as multifunctional nano material for removal of dyes and removal of toxic pollutants from water by adsorption or catalytic method and also, as an additive for polymer matrix. Also, he worked as Assistant Professor for the period of June 2014 to October 2015, at Engineering College, Nagpur.
Ms. SuchismitaSahoo, Assistant Director

Date of Joining: 7th December 2015

Education: M.Tech. in Rubber Technology from IIT Kharagpur in 2006; M.Sc. in Chemistry (Polymer) from Utkal University in 2004.

Publications: Four Publications in International Journals and one patent.

Areas of Research: Zinc Oxide nanoparticles, Bio- materials for rubber, clay based polymer nanocomposite, wear resistance of rubber.

Experience: 9.5 years of experience in rubber industry. Prior to joining IRMRA, worked with John Deere India Pvt. Ltd. as Materials Engineer and lead multiple development projects in rubber and plastic, failure analysis of rubber components, material selection and specification for rubber parts.
Mr. Gnana Sandeep S. R., Sr. Scientific Officer
Department: Product development

Date of Joining: 14th October 2015

Education: M.Tech. in Polymer Science & Technology from SJCE, Mysore; B.E. in Polymer Science & Technology from SJCE, Mysore

Areas of Research: Accelerators in inner tube , Brittle fracture of FRP insulators, Bio compatible adhesives in medical applications.

Experience: 9 years of experience in rubber and allied industry. Prior to joining IRMRA, worked with tyre, belting, product development and service industry.
Mr. Mohammad Anis, Assistant Director
Mr. Mohammad Anis, Assistant Director of IRMRA and is looking after processing section. He has completed his M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in 1986 and acquired Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial and Analytical Chemistry Conducted by Ruia College, Matunga. He has Co-Authored three Technical papers reported by IRMRA.  He has executed several product development assignments at IRMRA, which are sponsored by Indian Navy, BARC, and Defence sectors.
Mr. Sachin Arun Barve, Scientific Officer
Mr. Sachin Arun Barve, Scientific officer  is looking after tyre section activities. He has completed his BE (Mech.) with distinction from Mumbai University in 2004. He has joined IRMRA in Dec.2010. He   worked with companies like  Syndicate Wipers, Vir Rubber products Pvt. Ltd, Goodyear South Asia tyres Pvt.Ltd., Ceat Ltd. He has around 6+ year of experience in tyres & non tyre sector. He worked in Quality & product assurance departments with expertise in tyre testing.
Mr. Manohar Nawale, Scientific Officer
Mr. Manohar Nawale, Scientific Officer of IRMRA and is looking after testing activities. He has completed his M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry with first class from Mumbai University in 1993. After completing his post-graduation he joined Unimers India LTD (Formerly known as Herdillia Unimers Ltd), sole manufacture of EPDM rubber in India, in technical collaboration with Uniroyal Chemicals Co., USA. He has total 14 years’ experience in Unimers India Ltd and last designation was Dy. Manager-QA. He worked in various fields like Quality assurance, technical service, manufacturing and R&D. Then, he joined IRMRA in July 2008. He has excellent knowledge of testing of various polymers, rubbers, oils, chemicals, specialty chemicals, catalyst etc. by using latest analytical equipments and by chemical methods. He has excellent knowledge about instrumental analytical techniques. He has undergone internal auditor course for ISO 17025 & course on Uncertainty Measurement.
Mr. B. S. Yadav, Jr. Scientific Officer
Mr. B. S. Yadav, Jr. Scientific Officer of IRMRA is looking after Mechanical Testing Department. He is Science graduate. He has 31 years of  experience in Rubber industry. He has Co-Authored two technical papers reported by IRMRA. He joined IRMRA in April, 1991. 
Mr. Prashant Prabhakar Bankar, Sr. HR Officer
Mr. Prashant Prabhakar Bankar, Sr. HR Officer of IRMRA is looking after HR & Admin department. He has completed Masters of Social Work from Mumbai University. He has 13 years experience of working in HR & Admin in various organizations. He joined IRMRA on 01.10.2012.  
Mr. Mahesh Narottam Vaja, Chief Accounts Officer
Mr. Mahesh Narottam Vaja, Chief Accounts Officer of IRMRA, is looking after Accounts Department. He is a commerce graduate and a Chartered Accountant with 04 years experience in accounting. He joined IRMRA on 16.07.2012. 
Mr. N. A. Phondke, Officer
Mr. N. A. Phondke, Officer, Customer Services,is looking after marketing and CSC department. He has completed his B.Sc. in chemistry from Mumbai University & acquired a diploma in Rubber Technology from Plastic Rubber Institute London.He has been associated with the publication of technical papers as a co-author published by IRMRA. He is also involved in establishing testing & evaluation methods for rubber. He has delivered several lectures on several topics in various training programmes conducted by IRMRA.
  Mr. Hemant Rajendra Khairnar, Asst. Finance Officer
  Hemant Rajendra Khairnar, Asst. Finance Officer of IRMRA, is looking after Accounts department. He is a Commerce graduate. He has 3+ years experience in accounting. He joined IRMRA on 19.04.2012.
  Mr. Chetan Deshmukh, Officer Maintenance
  Mr. Chetan Deshmukh has joined IRMRA as Officer-Maintenance w.e.f. 1st October 2015 and currently he is in-charge of Maintenance department of IRMRA. He has completed his Mechanical Engineering from Pune University and   Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety from V.P.M. Collage of Engineering, Thane; affiliated to Maharashtra Board of Technical Education. He has experience of over 18 years Out of which 9+ years in Plant  Engineering and 9 years in Manufacturing Industries.
  Mr. Chetan Deshmukh started his career as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at Bajaj Tempo Ltd.; where he has handled various assembly sections. He has worked for Mercedez Benz India Ltd. at S.M. Auto Engineering Ltd. as Module Supplier. At Finearc Systems Pvt. Ltd. He was looking after designing machine.
